A retired corporate executive, Colin McLaren most recently served as Vice President of Worldwide Healthcare and Food & Beverage and as a Corporate Executive Officer. He joined CUNO Inc., later 3M Company, as Marketing & Sales Director for Europe in January 1996, following his tenure as Vice President of Europe, Africa, and Middle Eastern Operations for Gelman Sciences Inc.
Prior to his corporate career, Colin served as a Senior Scientific Officer in the Department of Clinical Pathology at Gartnavel General Hospital, a large teaching hospital in Glasgow, Scotland, where he specialized in clinical microbiology and parasitology.
Colin holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Clinical Microbiology from Glasgow Caledonian University and is a member of the Royal Institute of Medical Sciences in Clinical Microbiology.
Beyond his professional career, Colin has shared his home with dogs throughout his entire adult life—from pedigrees to beloved rescue mutts. Today, he shares his home (and, apparently, most of his bed) with Morag, a rescue Husky/Beagle mix affectionately known as a “Huggle”; Angus, a 160-pound black Great Dane; and Oliver, a 190-pound brindle rescue Great Dane. With that crew, Colin says he is currently in the market for a much larger bed.
Colin and his wife, Gillian, have been married for 49 years. His lifelong love of dogs, including firsthand experience welcoming rescue animals into his family, complements the extensive leadership, international business, and professional experience he brings to The Road Home Rescue Project and its Board of Directors.
